Dear Diary,
Today started off like most mornings in our house – with Cally and Harry turning up their noses at their usual breakfast kibble. No matter what brand or flavor I buy, they seem to get bored of it after a while. I left it out for them in case they changed their minds, but the bowls sat untouched even past their normal lunchtime.
As cavapoo owners know, these pups love their food but can be picky eaters! My tip is to mix up their diet with healthy homemade food or new proteins to keep them interested. Their curious snouts need some variety. Cally and Harry’s favorite homemade meal is boiled chicken, lean mince with a bit of offal with veg. It keeps their tummies happy and costs less than fancy dog foods.
By early afternoon, the pups were starting to beg for my lunch. Cally sat staring longingly at my toast, while Harry tried to rest his head on my lap as I ate at the table. To avoid sharing my meal, I whipped up a quick microwave omelet for the spoiled duo. Two eggs whisked cooked up nicely in a pyrex dish for about a minute in the microwave. I let it sit for a minute to finish cooking before cutting it up into bite-sized pieces. The dogs gobbled up the scrambled eggy treat.
After lunch, both Cally and Harry were ready for an afternoon snooze. They curled up together in their favorite patch of sunshine on the living room floor and napped for a couple hours. When they awoke, we headed to the dog park to get some exercise. The pups had a blast running around and playing with the other dogs. Cally loves to chase after balls (but does not often bring them back), while Harry prefers to wrestle with his furry friends.
By evening, the dogs were tuckered out. After dinner, we settled into our nightly routine. I curled up on the couch to read a book, while Cally and Harry lounged by the window keeping watch over the neighborhood. They monitor the comings and goings of the neighborhood activities. As the sun went down, the pups eventually dozed off in their favorite spots around the living room.
It was a lazy day-off work, filled with naps, playtime and the simple pleasures of spending time with my Cavapoo pair. They bring me so much joy! Looking forward to our adventures tomorrow.
